Our Secret Gardens were designed by Sylvia Philips, who together with husband Henry, spent the last 27 years collecting interesting and unusual pieces to place in hidden away corners for visitors to discover.
The garden is still very much her vision, with different scents and artifacts to stumble on in quirky secret places. When the renovation of the hotel gardens began, only a lawn and a rundown vegetable patch could be found.
Today; Henry, Libby and Denise work hard to maintain the gardens and look after our two rescue Donkeys, who can be found right at the back of the hotel.
We also have a working herb garden with over 50 different varieties of herbs. These are all used seasonally in our cooking, to dress desserts, or for our guests to garnish their drinks as they wish.
Our vegetable patch and fruit trees keep us well stocked with Beetroot, Potatoes, Beans, Crab Apples, Gooseberries, Blackberries and Raspberries, none of which go to waste!
