Masterchef choice
I could not let the week finish without writing to you to urge your readers to have a magnificent Sunday lunch at the Hundred House Hotel in Norton, near Shifnal. Stuart Phillips (the chef) and his parents are fantastic hosts, and the pub grub there is second to none. A fab choice of starters, followed by either roast pork (Gloucester Old Spot pigs) or roast beef, with all the trimmings, and yet another great choice of desserts (if you've got any room after your sumptuous main course!).
I was also lucky enough to spend the day cooking in the kitchen with Stuart on one of his Masterchef days - I was absolutely flat on my feet by the time 6pm came, but together, we had made at least six dishes - from rabbit with mustard, game soup, venison and beef pie and a pear upside-down cake! And my husband and I have spent this ensuing week enjoying portions of the fruits of our labours! It was a fantastic experience and one that I'll never forget!
If we lived nearer Norton, we'd be dining there more often, but it really is well worth the journey into beautiful Shropshire.
Yours faithfully,

Ed: Many thanks for your letter and recommendation. For our Summer issue, Taste editor Bruce McMichael will report from Stuart's kitchen having taken part in a Masterchef day.
