WALK TO IRONBRIDGE GORGE
If you enjoy walking and have a passion for history you will love the walk to the nearby Ironbridge Gorge - "The Craddle of the Industrial Revolution."
You'll need a long weekend - because the nearby Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage sight boasts no less than 10 museums. Click here for details of our Shropshire Hills and Rivers Short Break Package.
The site deserves time but fortunately a passport ticket is available giving admission to all the museums - returning again the next day or at some time in the future to see sites you have missed.

THE WALK
There is an extensive network of footpaths in the area and both Monarch's Way and the Severn Way pass through the Gorge. We haven't given full details on our map so you will need OS Explorer map 242.
The walk shown on our map is about 12 miles long. After enjoying a good nights sleep at the hotel and a hearty Hundred House breakfast leave the hotel and turn left along the A442. After a short while you will come to Monarch's Way. Turn left onto Monarch's Way and follow the waymarked path as far as Blists Hill Victorian Town on your left. Follow the Silkin Way, the footpath network and the minor roads down into Ironbridge. Cross the Ironbridge and turn left along the Severn Way. This follows the course of a dismantled railway for most of its length. When you reach Coalport bridge turn left across it, then bear right along the road until a turn on your right will take you back onto the Monarch Way and on to the Hundred House Hotel and an excellent meal.
